In certain situations the fuel heats up and expands, the pressure compensation prevents overpressure in the tank. The gasoline vapors escaping during equalization are led to the activated carbon filter via pipes and collected and stored there when the vehicle is not moving.

This system was developed primarily with a view to the EURO emissions standards. When converting a bike to race track use (without catalytic converter, etc.), we recommend removing the carbon filter.
